Waikato District Councillor
Crystal Beavis
I'm committed to serving your interests on Waikato District Council (WDC), drawing on my experience, energy and commitment to all communities in the Tamahere-Woodlands Ward.
Committed to serving you
on Waikato District Council.
I'm your Tamahere-Woodlands Ward Councillor and bring the experience you need on the Council in a fast-changing environment, with more local government reform ahead.
I’ve lived in Tamahere-Woodlands for 24 years, raised a family here, and I’m committed to using my business experience and advocacy skills to provide you with strong, effective representation. As a business communications professional I stand for transparent decision-making, prudent financial management, and good community outcomes. I invite you to read my latest news reports about the Council and to contact me if you have an issue you need help with.
As Chair of the Council's Policy and Regulatory Committee, I've developed a respected voice on the Council - which is important for developing a consensus around the Council table for making the right decisions. I also serve on the other main Council committees - Strategy, Growth & Finance, Assets & Infrastructure, and Community Voice & Choice, as well as on several subcommittees.

I value working with community groups to advance local aspirations. Before being elected to the Council, I served on the Matangi Community Committee, and I continue to volunteer at St Stephen’s Tamahere – home of the Tamahere Country Market.
My past governance experience includes 6 years on the Waikato District Health Board working to improve health services for our rural communities. I’m a member of the Institute of Directors, and Life Member of Diabetes Youth NZ. I have an MA (Hons) and PGDipMgmt (Distinction) and I’m married to Godfrey Bridger, a business consultant.
